STEFAN GOLDMANN
(Perlon, Innervisions, Cocoon, Macro Records)

Stefan Goldmann began releasing stripped-down techno in the early 2000s. After having appeared on Perlon, Cocoon and Innervisions with influential releases, he founded Macro in 2007. The label’s artists include KiNK, Elektro Guzzi, KUF, Patrick Cowley and Oliver Ho (Raudive) with albums, and rRoxymore, L’estasi Dell’oro, Peter Kruder and Vladimir Dubyshkin among others have contributed EPs. Remixes came from the likes of Ricardo Villalobos, Pépé Bradock and The Knife’s Oni Ayhun. Stefan has entered the polls of RA and Groove Mag in several years, as a DJ, producer and with his tracks and remixes such as ‘Sleepy Hollow‘, ‘Lunatic Fringe‘ and ‘The Maze‘.

Since 2006 Stefan has been playing at Panorama Bar Berlin. For the Berghain club he developed the Electroacoustic Salon events, writes a column for its flyer program and is the co-author of the book ‘Berghain 10‘. He has performed at festivals such as SXSW Austin, Mutek, Time Warp, Club To Club and Star Festival Japan and is touring regularly throughout Europe, Asia, Australia and the Americas. With Macro label parties in Berlin, London, Paris, New York, Tokyo and many other cities he has also been seen in wider contexts.

But Stefan’s artistic reach goes well beyond clubland. He has scored films, collaborated with ensembles, choreographers and visual artists, and has written a book. His numerous special projects include site-specific performances at Kyoto’s iconic Honen-In Temple, Los Angeles’s LACMA museum and the CCK center in Buenos Aires. In 2018 he was invited to curate f(t) festival in Berlin.

Stefan’s techno DJ sets are smart, imaginative and highly danceable, reflecting his rich history as a producer and label maker. Spanning dramatic arcs from deep to prime time techno, he throws in records from other backgrounds, to mingle with Macro’s anthems such as ‘Iscariotic Lips‘ or ‘Sintezator‘.
